Casually-clad Zayn Malik smokes a cigarette and flashes his multiple tattoos as he enjoys some downtime in Miami

He has been steadily releasing snippets of new music on Instagram over the past two weeks.

And as he works on the follow-up to smash hit debut solo album Mind of Mine, former One Direction hunk Zayn Malik, 25, enjoyed some downtime in Miami, Florida on Saturday.

The Pillowtalk hitmaker looked relaxed and content as he casually puffed on a cigarette while tapping away on his phone,

The star kept it casual as he relaxed on a day off from the studio, clad in a black and white Juventus football shirt and grey quilted shorts with orange trim.

His partially shaved raven locks were styled into a quiff while the handsome star rocked a distinguished smattering of stubble.

He gave onlookers a flash of his multiple tattoos as he pulled his shirt on, revealing an inking of a castle and a flag as well as his honed torso.

The star also flaunted his intricate tattoo sleeves as he smoked while staring intently at his smartphone.

Keen to keep fit during his break, the star was also seen doing some push-ups on the balcony before chatting with pals.

The star recently came under fire from his social media followers after he uploaded a video of himself smoking while covering I Can’t Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt.

Zayn was seen taking a drag on the cigarette before playing the song in a heavily filtered video.

One fan wrote: ‘Dont smoke’ while another added ‘Dont smoke honey. Please it will kill your voice’ with one more fan writing ‘Don’t. Smoke. Thanks.’

Earlier this month the heavily inked star elected to add another tattoo to his growing collection, and gave fans a glimpse of the new design on social media.

The tattoo appeared to be a distinctive red wolf with prominent ears positioned on either side of his throat.

The fresh inking, already debuted by the star during recent public appearances in New York, appears to be a cover up on a preexisting stag head design, obtained during his time with One Direction.

Fans also recently speculated over whether or not he has had his supermodel girlfriend’ Gigi Hadid’s eyes tattooed on his chest after he posed shirtless in a previous social media video.

He has been dating the supermodel, 22 since January 2016, six months after he broke up with Little Mix singer fiance Perrie Edwards, 24.

Zayn and Gigi’s romance has gone from strength to strength with her mother Yolanda, admitted that she is happy to see her daughter so in love and will always be there to support the millennial power couple through it all.

She told MailOnline: ‘When you raise your children, I hope I instilled the best in them to make the right choices and turn to me and say “I love this man” then I’m going to love them too.

‘This is their journey and I’m just here to support both of them as long as they make each other happy, working through things then I’m happy.’

Unwavering in her support for the duo, Yolanda – who is also mother to 18-year-old Anwar – opened up about her own relationship with the Zayn and confessed that he is like a ‘son’ to her.

‘He’s a beautiful human being from Bradford, England,’ she explained. ‘He’s from the same background that I’m from, him and I get along great and he’s like a son to me. It’s all good.

‘He has no family here and he’s so far away so I understand that life because I lived that life. I think that I’m just a momma to him.’

The genetically blessed couple have yet to show signs of their romance slowing down after two years of dating which have been filled with a cameo in a music video, envy-inducing holidays, and making a statement at the 2016 Met Gala.

And while fans of the young couple hope to hear wedding bells soon, Yolanda gave little away on whether there will be an engagement in the near future as she admitted she’s happy to watch their romance continue to blossom.

The fashion star added: ‘We’ll see, I truly believe they’re all on their own journey. It’s not in my hands anymore so I’m just sitting back and letting it all unfold.’

Zayn is now hard at work on his second solo studio album, with his last single, Dusk Til Dawn, a collaboration with singer Sia, reaching number 5 in the UK charts.

His debut solo album, released in 2016, spawned the hit single Pillowtalk, which topped the charts in the UK and US.
